circulating where it appears as though Credit Union staff are requesting personal information through email. The Credit Union uses the latest technologies to ensure the service we bring our members is secure and confidential. Under no circumstances would St. Joseph’s Credit Union ever ask you to reveal your PIN (Personal Identification Number) or other passwords. In addition, there are further steps you too can take to protect yourself against the latest Internet scams … continued ..
Safeguard yourself with these tips from the RCMP:
1. Be suspicious of any e-mail or text message containing urgent requests for personal or financial information.
2. Contact us immediately if you get a suspicious email claiming to be from one of our employees requesting personal information.
3. Never e-mail personal or financial information.
4. Avoid embedded links in an e-mail claiming to bring you to a secure site.
5. Regularly update your computer protection with anti-virus software, spyware filters, e-mail filters and firewall programs.
6.Regularly check your bank, credit and debit card statements to ensure that all transactions are legitimate.
